A study carried out by the market research firm TARGET Sarl investigated the Congolese people's apprehensions regarding the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2023.
The participants identified crucial concerns and suggested priority areas for government attention.
Unemployment rates (92%), conflicts in the eastern region of the DRC (90%), challenges faced by the youth (89%), transportation system (89%), security issues in urban areas, commonly referred to as the Kuluna phenomenon (89%), access to basic necessities such as water and electricity (89%), and availability of quality medical facilities (89%) are among the top concerns for the Congolese populace at the onset of this year.
The survey encompassed 11 primary cities (as per the previous configuration of the DRC before the 2011 division) and was aimed towards a sample size of 2,000 individuals who were interviewed face-to-face using a questionnaire integrated into a smartphone. The quotas factored in the following considerations: gender, age, geographical region (urban and rural), and the populace's influence in the 2018 elections.
