A day with Eunice Masuaku, Qualitative specialist

Eunice Masuaku is a Qualitative Specialist in the Project Department of Target. Her job is to manage qualitative market research from project conception to final report. She designs discussion guides for focus groups and individual consumer interviews. Eunice, 28, also supervises analysts in the development of research reports. On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, she agreed to open her office doors to discuss her work day.
Eunice is always punctual at the office. It is not her who says it but rather her colleagues. At 6:30 am, she is already at her workplace. She sits in front of her computer to project the day's priorities. aHer work day begins in earnest at 8:00 am with an English class she attends with her colleagues. Eunice is not talkative. Her interventions in the class are relatively rare. Toward the end of the session, she can speak at length. The English teacher, Éloge Mulumba, gives a conversation exercise to evaluate each learner's level. Eunice exercises with Saleh (Project Manager) on a topic between a lady's shoe buyer and the salesman in a store. A conversation that the whole room, including the teacher, will applaud.
When class ends at 9:30 am, Eunice doesn't hang around the meeting room. Proofreading and editing notes from individual interviews for a project await her at her desk. The study took place in Mbandaka in the Equateur province. It is Eunice's priority. The firm insists on strictly respecting the deadlines for delivering reports to clients. And this requires rigor at every link in the chain of production of the study. She has not even finished this task when her General Manager, Serge Mumbu, calls him for an urgent meeting.
The meeting starts at 10 am. It is preparatory to a workshop on the same Wednesday with a client. Eunice focuses on the strategy part that Target should present to its partner. With Eloges Mulumba and Serge Mumbu, they discuss the main strategies that will be evoked in the exchange with their client. Eunice discusses the marketing strategy to propose to the client to boost the sale of their product in the market. She also introduces the idea of a new product that Target's client could launch on the market to differentiate itself from the competition. A proposal that finds a place in Target's agenda. The meeting ends at 12:30, and Ms. Masuaku takes the opportunity to have lunch.
Returning from her break at 1 pm, Eunice Masuaku focuses on her computer as she resumes reading and editing the one-on-one interview notes she had started before her meeting with her boss and Praise Mulumba began. "When I started at Target, I was under much stress with the studies going on almost every day. I was under pressure from my boss and customers. Now, I can channel all those emotions and manage priorities better," she says.
It's 3 pm, and Eunice Masuaku is still at work. At this time, many people are already tired in their departments after working all day. But she is still active and shows energy to finish her daily tasks. It's around 4:30 pm that she wraps up everything, puts her things away, and gets ready to leave the office, happy to have served conscientiously.
