Target ready to publish DRC 2021 media study
The market research firm Target SARL is preparing to publish its annual study of the media in the 26 provinces of the DRC. For this year, 2021, beyond the standard mapping of the media it establishes each year, Target will integrate the new realities that now characterize the Congolese media universe.
Thus, this new edition will put a particular accent on the old and the new media. It will analyze TNT (Digital Terrestrial Television), whose advent in 2020 has caused a proliferation of television channels. The study will also focus on cable channels, the telephone, the Internet, and the well-known traditional media: free-to-air television, radio, and written press. In the current context of the health crisis related to the Covid-19 pandemic, all media followed by respondents in the last 30 days will be surveyed. Respondents will identify the media outlets they followed, their preferred language for following the media, the times they follow the media, and their usual locations for following the media.
This new edition of Target's media study will also address questions about the most followed media, favorite programs, and pay TV. The results of the 5th edition of the Target Media Survey will be available by May 2021.
Each year, this study allows advertisers to choose the best channels for their communications, media outlets to adjust their programming according to the expectations of their audiences, and organizations to make informed choices about the most appropriate media for their campaigns.
Target surveyed a representative sample of 2,000 people across the 26 provincial capitals of the Democratic Republic of Congo from March 24 to 31, 2021. The survey was conducted face-to-face using smartphones following the quota method by age, gender, occupation, and commune of residence.
The study can be obtained upon request by writing to info@target-sarl.cd or by calling (+243) 810 451 052.
