One day with Eunice Masuaku, a Qualitative specialist
Eunice Masuaku is a Qualitative specialist in Target's Project Department. She is in charge of leading qualitative market research from project conception to final report. Moreover, she conducts focus groups discussion and individual consumer interviews. Eunice is 28 years old. She supervises the analysts in the research report elaboration as well. On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, she agreed to open her office doors to discuss her workday.
Eunice is always punctual at the office. She did not say it, but rather her colleagues testified. Eunice is already at the office by 6:30 a.m. She gets in front of her computer to project the day's priorities.
Her workday begins at 8 a.m. with an English class with fellow employees. Eunice is not talkative. She seldom speaks in class. Toward the end of the session, she can talk at length. The English coach, Éloge Mulumba, gives a conversation exercise to evaluate the level of each student. Eunice practices with Saleh (Project Manager) on a topic between a lady shoe buyer and a salesman in a store. The whole class applauded their conversation roleplay, including the coach.
Once class ends at 9:30 a.m., Eunice doesn't wander into the meeting room. She is at her desk proofreading and correcting notes from individual interviews for a project. The study took place in Mbandaka in the Equateur province. This task is Eunice's priority. The firm insists on strictly respecting the deadlines for delivering reports to clients. And this requires discipline at all stages of the study production chain. She has not even finished this task when her General Manager, Serge Mumbu, calls her for an urgent meeting.
The meeting starts at 10 a.m. It is preparatory for a workshop on the same Wednesday with a client. Eunice focuses on the strategy part that Target should present to its partner. They discuss the main strategies to evoke in the workshop with their client and Eloges Mulumba and Serge Mumbu. Eunice discusses the marketing strategy to propose to the client to boost product sales. She also introduces the idea of a new product that Target's client could launch on the need to differentiate itself from the competition. Her proposal found a place in Target's agenda. The meeting ends at 12:30, and Ms. Masuaku has lunch.
When she returned from the break at 1:00 p.m., Eunice Masuaku concentrated on her computer, resuming the reading and correcting the notes from the individual interviews she had begun before starting her meeting with her boss and Éloge Mulumba.
"When I started at Target, I was stressed with studies coming in almost every day. I was under pressure from my boss and customers. Now I can channel all those emotions and manage priorities better, " she says.
Eunice Masuaku is still working at 3 p.m. At that time, many people were already getting tired in their departments after working all day. But she is still active and shows energy to finish her tasks of the day. Around 4:30 p.m., she closes everything, packs her belongings, and prepares to leave the office, happy to have served conscientiously.
