Target: A webinar to present the results of the Congolese perception of electoral reforms

The next elections in the DRC are scheduled for 2023. The previous elections held in 2006, 2011, and 2018 were characterized by irregularities that were the subject of much criticism and contestation.

The forces of civil society and the political class are raising their voices to demand reforms for credible, transparent, and peaceful elections in 2023. Target has conducted its survey around the electoral reform issue, which results will be made public on Friday, June 25, 2021, during a webinar.

Numerous points were raised in the public arena, such as the return to two-round presidential elections and majority voting for legislative elections, the election of a second-degree presidential candidate by the Parliament, the obligation to be Congolese for a presidential candidate, the depoliticization of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), the right to vote for Congolese abroad, better representation for women and the abolition of the Senate. These issues were taken into account during the study by the Target firm.

A representative sample of Congolese was interviewed by telephone from June 9 to 15, 2021. This presentation will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 am Kinshasa time (GMT+1) in Multi live (Zoom, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn). For the Zoom link, click here
